Gonzalez 1964

This is another nice old Spanish guitar from the Madrid luthier Anselmo Solar Gonzalez. The guitar has bass and treble tap plates and works well as a flamenco negra but also has a lovely old spruce, woody sound that is lovely for any kind of classical repertoire. The overall condition is very good, especially for its age. Gonzalez was born Sept 1, 1918 in Pravia, Asturias, Spain. He started making guitars in 1930, and was winning prizes for his guitar building by the age of 20. He went to work for the renowned Spanish luthier Santos Hernandez in 1943 and after Santos died continued to work for his widow until 1948 when he opened his own shop.
