Special Engagement with Duo Assad:
Sérgio and Odair Assad 60th Anniversary Farewell Tour
Tuesday, March 3, 2026 7:30pm
Benaroya Illsley Ball Nordstrom Recital Hall
Don’t miss this final opportunity to experience the extraordinary musical talents of Duo Assad! Brazilian-born brothers, Sérgio and Odair Assad, have set the standard for classical guitar duos with their lifelong musical partnership. Their inherent synchronicity, expressive depth, and imaginative programming, forged through decades of collaboration, set the standard for innovation, ingenuity, and expression with the guitar. Their performances are a captivating blend of musical styles, periods, and cultures, including folk, jazz, Latin, and classical repertoire, such as transcriptions of great Baroque keyboard works by composers such as Bach, Rameau, and Scarlatti, as well as adaptations of works by Gershwin, Ginastera, and Debussy.
As they prepare to conclude six decades of international touring, Duo Assad will grace the stage at Benaroya Hall in Seattle for a final farewell performance, where they will share with us their phenomenal music-making one last time.
The Assads have an impressive catalog of recordings on Nonesuch and GHA including Sérgio and Odair Assad Play Piazzolla and Jardim Abandonado, which both received Latin Grammys.
“A kind of wizardry lies within the playing of Sergio and Odair Assad… they produce a supple, flawless unified sound.” — The New York Times
This special engagement is an addition to the Seattle Classic Guitar Society season, and is not a part of the 2025-2026 International Series.
