Fernandez Alvarez 1961
For a time the great Spanish builder Arcangel Fernandez not only built his own instruments but also offered instruments from other well-respected Spanish luthiers for sale in his shop. This is one such instrument from another great builder, Juan Alvarez Sr. This guitar has a very unique, open, airy sound to the basses. With normal tension strings especially, the notes bloom and resonate. Another great example of a cypress guitar with a sound that is much more versatile than for just flamenco. The guitar is in excellent overall condition and features a lovely set of silver plated Fustero tuners. Note also the unusually steep neck angle and Juan Alvarez’s signature headstock design.
